Spirited Away: A Bento Box Dinner Party
Green Tea Ice Cream Sundae
When we were creating a dessert for this episode, we took a trip to our local Japanese grocery store and looked for inspiration. We found some really fun cookies, candies, and treats which we used to come up with the idea for this ice cream sundae. We took the formula for a traditional ice cream sundae, and we substituted American classics for Japanese treats! There you have how the Green Tea Ice Cream Sundae came to be!!
In a food processor blend up the raspberries. Tip: if they are too tart add a bit of honey. Set the raspberry puree aside. Next, blend up the mangos. These are the sauces for the bottom of your sundae.
Select a plate and drizzle it with the two sauces, then place a scoop of green tea ice cream on top. Add a few quartered mochi balls and the pocky sticks (just like chop sticks!).
Top off your sundae with whipped cream and a candy mushroom (just like you would with the good old cherry on top!)
Makes 6 small portions.
- 1 pint vegan green tea ice cream
- 1 pack mochi ball candy, split into quarters
- 1 pack pocky sticks
- 1 cup frozen raspberries
- 1 cup frozen mango
- vegan whipped cream
- Japanese cookies (try a mushroom shape!)
